The ICB CDT addresses the acknowledged shortage of well-trained physical scientists capable of contributing to bio-medical, personal care and agri-sience challenges. The central research theme is concerned with understanding molecular interactions as targets for biological intervention.

In particular:

• The development and application of new measurement, modelling, computational and chemical approaches to specific biological problems.

To see the approaches we use and develop go to our technology roadmap.

To see the specific biological problems (in the life, agri and biomedical sciences) that are being addressed go to the interactive cell.

• The establishment of engineering rules underlying such interactions with  a view to making applications relevant to grand challenges.
