Project: Optimization of cell-free protein synthesis factories using CHO cell extracts

Chiara did her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the ETH (Switzerland) and at the University of Potsdam (Germany) as a scholar of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. At the end of her undergraduate studies, she joined UC Berkeley (US) for her BSc project about the computation of high-harmonic generation spectra of molecules in the area of quantum dynamics. In 2014, Chiara moved to London to study Advanced Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. She was awarded the UNIHEAT Award and won the Research Prize for her Master’s project in Heavy Oil Upgrading. After finishing her MSc, she received the Marit Mohn Scholarship for pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering. Chiara is currently doing research on cell-free protein synthesis systems. Besides. she founded the non-profit organization 'Humans of Science', serves as an active council member of the Women's Engineering Society (WES), and leads the Women in Engineering student group at Imperial College London.
