Project: Interaction of personal care formulations with skin mimetics

Biography:

I graduated from Newcastle University with a Master’s degree in Chemistry with a year placement at Waterloo University, Canada. I then worked at young biotechnology company, QuantuMDx Group, for over 3 years developing POC medical devices for genetic based disease diagnosis. Following this, I started my MRes/PhD at Imperial College London in 2016 in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). My project is based upon developing a lipid based skin mimetic of the stratum corneum, which can be used to investigate the structural and physico-chemical interactions of topical formulations. I am supervised by Prof John Seddon, Prof Rob Law, Dr Nick Brooks from Imperial College and Dr David Moore from GSK.
